About

'Have nothing in your houses that you do not know to be beautiful or believe to be useful' - William Morris

The Mind Salon is my blog, newsletter combo of posts when it seems right ~ seems to be gently rolling towards once or twice a month.

A safe place to visit with an eclectic balance (oxymoron?) of mind, body, spirit stuff.

Here everything is about the mind ~ hypnosis, meditation, pain management, health, well-being, healing, managing disability, how to guides, fun and more.

The Mind Salon is free. You are welcome to buy me a coffee. If you do so my joy would hold no bounds - does anyone know what that means? I think it means I might poop rainbows 🦄 🌈

You are welcome to send questions, ideas or flights of fancy. I am happy to do occasional reviews of books or products related to mind, body spirit or health/well-being-related. I am an ambulatory wheelchair user and am available to experience or check-out accessibility.

In this article I share what’s occurring in The Mind Salon Thank you for being here

From Herself

Sometimes I’ve believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast. Lewis Carroll, Alice in Wonderland

Once upon a time there was a little girl called Barbara. She lived in an ivory tower singing like an angel while the birds and little animals came in the house to talk to her. Life was blissful and – insert screeching skid noise – oh no, that wasn’t me! Of course that was Snow White and actually my life was, is, more Alice in Wonderland.

Hello, my name is Barbara and I live on a hill in a magical hamlet in the south of England.

I opened my hypno-doors in 1992 and have gathered many tools along the way by learning from my clients and training in CBT, Health Coaching, medical hypnosis plus others.

Following many years of being disabled with back issues, surgical damage and all the accompanying nonsense my work naturally led me to holistic coaching, pain management, stress reduction, helping golfers with their mind games and voice overs/narration. The fancy term for doing/being many things is, 'Multihyphenate' and, 'Multipotentialite' and; courtesy of Tim Harford, slow motion multi-tasking - these words and descriptions spark joy.   ✨

Being comfortable working in the left-brain logical, medically inclined camp and the right-brain creative, esoteric field means I am equally happy discussing neuroplasticity with a doctor as talking about soul retrieval with a shaman ~ perfectly balancing the science with the weird and woo.

I am available to talk to your group, on your podcast or for media interviews on subjects relating to an holistic lifestyle, wellbeing, esoterica, mind body spirit, pain management, being self-employed and disabled, hypnosis, meditation and writing.

Q - Why the cauldron?
A - While trying to think of something that describes a blog/newsletter, salon, den, parlour, drop-in, chamber, shed, turret, dragon cave, magical portal in a way to share knowledge - my husband, Mick suggested the cauldron. Everything goes in the pot and then we share it out.
